 Storybook Theme For my storybook project, I want to take a dark twist on classic fairytales. I want to tell the criminal stories of Cinderella, Rapunzel, and the Evil Stepmother from their point of view. I want them to recount the night they got into trouble and ultimately ended up at the Fairytale Police Department. Cinderella is in prison for breaking curfew, Rapunzel has been imprisoned for assault, horse theft, and false imprisonment, and the Evil Stepmother was caught overdosing on wicked pills to make her the meanest mom in the kingdom. It will be three separate stories but they will all be told from inside prison bars. These are stories you have never heard before.  Topic Selection Last week, I was tasked with coming up with four different topics do base my semester storytelling project on. After going back and forth, I have decided to go with Untold Stories from the Fairytale Police Department. This story is going to tell the accounts of classic fairytale characters like Cinderella, The Evil Stepmother, and Rapunzel with a little criminal twist. Like Disney, they take classic fairytales and make them new and I am essentially doing the same thing but making them a little more dark.  Research I began my research journey by looking into Dan Ashliman's website .   Brainstorming Topics for Mythology-Folklore Topic 1: The Wizard of Oz I chose this topic because I remember seeing this film as a little girl and falling in love with it! I loved the adventure aspect, the creativity that sprang from creating the land of Oz, and the dynamic characters. I am interested in learning more about how the characters were inspired so I can better tell their stories. For this story, I was contemplating how I could put a modern twist of this classic childhood story, so I got thinking and this is what I have in mind. After seeing a previous student take a twist on a tv show called Extreme Home Makeover Visits: Dorthy and her Family , I got inspired to do a tv spin-off as well. I want to transform the Wizard of Oz into a spin-off of the cult favorite, The Bachelorette. Dorthy is the featured bachelorette and instead of looking for her way home, she is looking for love.
